As scene 43 begins, Michael and Mimi have begun trying in earnest to undo the damage they have done to their sex life and their marriage. Here is the original version of the scene.
43 INT. COTTAGE LIVING ROOM - EVENING 43
Michael and Mimi lie entwined on the couch, each in an odd
state of semi-dress from having random articles of clothing
removed and half-removed. Mimi lies across Michael, and
the two are kissing gently.
MIMI
How do you feel?
MICHAEL
I'm a little nervous, actually.
A close observer might see a shadow pass across Mimi's face
when she hears this, but whatever discomfort she feels is
pretty well hidden.
MIMI
So am I.
She gives Michael a little kiss.
MIMI
(cont.)
I wonder if it would help us to get
drunk.
MICHAEL
(laughing a little)
I don't know. It's a thought.
MIMI
Maybe tomorrow we can go out and get
some wine.
MICHAEL
Sure.
More small kisses.
MIMI
Let's just relax, and do little
things with each other.
Mimi starts kissing and licking Michael's chest, slowly and
sensually. Between kisses she talks.
MIMI
(cont.)
You know what I'd really like?
MICHAEL
What?
MIMI
Only if you're in the mood.
MICHAEL
Uh-huh.
MIMI
I'd enjoy it if you went down on me.
Do you feel like doing that?
MICHAEL
Uh-huh.
The two start shifting positions so that Michael can give
Mimi head. They cooperate to remove whatever articles of
clothing stand in the way.
MIMI
I don't need to come. I just want
to enjoy the feeling.
Michael puts his head between Mimi's legs. She starts to
make little, relaxed noises.
MIMI
(cont.)
A little more gently, darling.
MICHAEL
Okay.
MIMI
You can be a little less direct at
first, if you want.
MICHAEL
Okay.
MIMI
Is it all right for me to make
suggestions like that?
MICHAEL
Sure.
Michael resumes. There is a pause.
MIMI
That feels good.
She seems to be enjoying herself.
