Barbecue, Sri Lankan Style
We all went to Blue Water
When Eddie came to Sri Lanka in 1990 for Fahima and
Mohideen's wedding, he was there for three weeks, and he thanked the family with
an American-style barbecue in the backyard. This time, he did something similar,
but a bus was hired to take at least 50 of us to the Blue Water hotel about an
hour south of Colombo along the Galle Road. The hotel miraculously bounced back
after being hit by the tsunami. We had a buffet breakfast there the other day en
route to Galle.
Eddie got American-brand foods and hosted another BBQ. We had hamburgers and hot dogs, but they seemed to have distinctively Sri Lankan flavors going on. It was quite hot and humid that night and was glad to have air conditioning back to Colombo.
