Second stop: The Botanical Gardens of Kandy

Our second stop on this daytrip was the Botanical Gardens in Kandy. A nice feature of travelling this way is that the driver takes care of all the expenses. Foreigners are often charged more, or there's a camera fee. Sanath is a great guide. He knew the names of many different plants, and pointed out some special orchids to me. One looks like a Kandyan dancer. He also pointed out the bats in the trees, which were soon disturbed and flying around in broad daylight. We later could hear masses of them in Colombo when we drove by a public park. [Click here for a look at the Gardens.]
