Time to Make the Footwear

I tour the Sinwa Holdings factory

I started the day by visiting the girls' orphanage run by the Ceylon Moorish Ladies Association. Marwaan's family is involved in it. In Sri Lanka, where extended families are common, being left without a family to take you in means you're really in trouble, so it's good that there's an orphanage that specializes in Muslim orphans. Auntie Ila told me that very often, they are able to make marriages for these girls also.

After that, I visited the premises of Sinwa Holdings , the family business of the Cader family. Marwaan's sister is married to Mohideen Cader, and he works there with his father Nasir and his brother Haroun. There are a number of buildings in a walled compound, as well as some cocoanut trees. A man who works there cut one open for me and I drank the cocoanut milk while I got a tour of the plant. Sinwa makes adhesives, shoes and sandals, and work boots.
