New Boats for the Fishermen

A visit to the Governor's palace and a press conference.

I wound up covering a press conference given by the governor of the southern district. We drove to his offices, outside of which were four fishing boats donated by a town in France. The boats will be shared by five families. At one point, we wound up in his actual office sitting at a long table, and were served cake, banana, and water. I asked him a few questions, which he skillfully evaded.

Outside, after the rain stopped, there were many long, boring speaches which clearly went on more than "thanks for the boats." At one point, a pack of monkeys in the trees started braying and stole the show.
