8 March 1999: Avoid the Fish Dinner

A friend recently reminded me that in Airplane everyone who has the fish dinner on board soon regrets it. Truer words were never uttered. Life imitated art, all over the loo a mile above the Earth, on Virgin Atlantic's 6:30 pm flight to Swinging London, as I transferred my delicious cod dinner to the bathroom toilet, floor, and my own shoes.

I was wretching in an unnaturally loud and primal way. It cleared away the long line that had been behind me for the loo before I went in.

The flight may have only cost $301.30, but it didn't come cheap, lemme tell ya. Some people tell me that I should complain and get a free flight. But I primarily blame myself, especially watching those scary Hitchcock movies on board. Those cliffside scenes with Grace Kelly behind the wheel probably gave me double motion sickness.
