Comments:
I worked with Core from 1994-1997.

I was a receptionist and always made $10 an hour. Things weren't good between us when we stopped working together in 1997. Nevertheless, looking back, all feelings aside, this is a good agency.

The couselors are hard working, decent people and I never had a problem with them re: money. They come across as brash sometimes and somehow unidentifiably unsophisticatd. (I eventually put my finger on it: they're Pigmaleons from Staten Island.) But don't let that fool you. They're intellgent folks.

Every so often there'd be a gap of a week in which I didn't get called for work. If you work with Core, or any other business, try to have a secondary agency on hand just in case.

After temping for a while, I just lost interest in the whole thing. I realized I'd become a "permanent temp"... not a way I wanted to live. However, if you are just starting out in New York, this is a GREAT place to go. Young and fresh goes over well on Wall Street.

Don't lose sight that you are still just another ID number in a huge pool of temps. Don't be too offended when they call you by a variation of your name or something close to it and, no matter how often you correct them, they'll never get it. It's a huge cattle ranch like a lot of other places. That's the nature of temping. But they have jobs, so learn to be a user, too.
