When I moved to Pullman in August, 1996, I like may freshman students lived in the dorms. Specifically, I choose Gannon hall, I lived in room 620, sharing the small space with a total stranger, and a Canadian to boot. To this day, I consider that stranger to be one of my closest friends, even if he now lives several hundred miles away.

However, it was a very small space, and while we mostly got along, it was a good thing we got out of that space in the spring.

The summer of 1997, I stayed in Pullman and lived at College Crest, a ground floor apartment in bulding “D”. This wasn’t a bad space, I lived alone and the room remained cool in the Pullman summer. Alas, it was a temporary space, I had to move from there to building A in the same complex when that room became available. This was a top floor room without air conditioning. It was not pleasant. Further, while I still had my own room, I had to share the common space with as many as 3 other people—assigned by the apartment complex. I only remember 2 people, one was a pretty cool person, the other was an ass.

As a reaction to this, I worked out an arrangement where my brother, Arthur (from the dorms), and I would split a Campus Commons apartment starting the summer of 1998. Between the three of us, the rent was affordable, we could have a weber. Life was good.

Until Arthur graduated in December. We knew it was coming, but our second-semester roommate fell through. Corey had some friends that ended up taking that space, but they were soon to prove unreliable.

Corey decided that Pullman was not for him, so I had an offer to live at a Wheatridge condo the next year. It was a nice place, but Tory was not a cat person, so I had to leave my cat with my parents for a year. Also, while I was not lacking for toys, I was severly lacking for space. My room was tiny.

At this point, I was close to working for the College of Pharmacy in a full time role, so I made the decision I really wanted to live on my own. During the summer of 2000, I moved to the Lamont apartments, a complex of one-bedroom apartments on 3 floors (2 living floors over a carport floor). Many people have expressed displeasure with AR policies, but I had no problems. I lived there for three years, and would have continued to do so, but my position was eliminated in a budget cut. Since I didn’t want to commit to a lease, I had to find a new place.

That place was on Upper drive, in the basement of Scott’s (actually Vladimir’s) house. Rent was cheapish, lots of toys, more space than I had with Tory (but not as much personal space as the Lamont apartment). Also, the house has a small garage, suitable for an MG, but not a truck.

I’ve lived in that basement bedroom for 4 years now. Four years is a long time. After some searching, I found a 2 bedroom condo for rent at the Statesman. I move in June 1, 2007. It’ll be my 7th place of residence in 11 years in Pullman, but it could be the last place I rent.
