Yesterday I went to the flea market, which happens twice a month. I bought a saucepan, a skillet, a sort of dutch-oven cooking pan with handles on both sides, a cheese grater, a ceramic teapot, a teacup and saucer, a wooden cutting board, a pair of scissors, and probably a few other things which I'm forgetting. I didn't just buy any old trashy scratched-Teflon junk, either; it's all pretty good stuff. The pans are all stainless steel and good enough quality that I'd buy them for permanent stuff. I was very pleased with my haul.

The flea market was way the hell away, far to the southwest at the very edge of town by the airport. Fortunately, there was an excellent bike trail the whole way there. I slathered on the suntan lotion and pedaled down there, filled up the whole basket on the rental bike, and then biked all the way back with the heavy things rattling in the basket.

So, anyway, then I did a bunch of grocery shopping. Last night I cooked my first proper meal. It was just gnocchi and bottled tomato pasta sauce, with pre-washed salad and some simple salad dressing that I mixed up, and bell pepper slices; but actually cooking a meal like that is crossing a sort of boundary into living here as opposed to just visiting here.
