Sean in Bozen
9 July 2006, Part II
Oh, my god. Italy just won the world cup minutes ago. I can't believe how seriously people take it. It's just before 11:00 at night here, but I can already hear the city going beserk.
Signing off to go check out the madness! There are cars honking like crazy outside, engines revving, people screaming and yelling and cheering.
Later: I went and checked it out. The city was just plain nuts. Huge impromptu parties in the open squares, Italian flags waving, people wearing flags as capes, air horns squealing, everyone yelling at the tops of their lungs. At quarter past midnight, I finally went back to my room, and the action showed no signs of slowing. I went to sleep to the sound of cars honking their horns like at a wedding.
