July 17-20, Camping Trip, Camp Gateway Sandy Hook, Highlands NJ
Join Campers' Group for a fun and relaxing camping trip at the Jersey Shore! We will be camping at the Nike Group Site at Sandy Hook Gateway National Recreation Area.
*** Please read the entire description before you decide to RSVP for this trip.***
We have reserved the newly renovated group site, at the old Nike missile base. The group site contains several amenities for our sole use! It has 2 large barrack style buildings with several cots, tables and chairs - great for escaping the hot sun or a surprise rain shower - 2 BBQ grills, fire rings, outdoor tables and benches, potable water, port-a-potties, and 2 large canvas tents with an outdoor food storage locker at each (these tents may be assigned to the hosts).
Bathrooms with flush toilets and running water are a short walk away. There are no showers at the campsites.
Outside public showers for rinsing off after a swim are located at the nearby Sandy Hook beaches, accessible by bike, car or even on foot.
The group site is approximately 100 ft from its own parking lot, and will have about 8 spaces for us. When this parking lot fills up you will need to park at the next closest lot, Lot L, a few minute walk back to the road. We can borrow camp wagons or bring our own to transport heavier gear to the site. Or with your car, just drop off gear at the group site lot, then return your car to Lot L. There is a paved path from the group site lot to our group site, then sandy paths when walking to areas to pitch tents and enter buildings.
RSVPs ARE $42 PER TENT/CAR -

July 31-August 2, Camping Trip, Upper Delaware River Camping Trip (Class I & II Rapids), Lackawaxen PA
Join us for a river camping adventure! This outing requires that you either have a whitewater capable canoe or kayak, or privately arrange with an outfitter to rent one. You will need to navigate class I or II rapids during the trip. Some experience is recommended. This is a car-camping trip, with day paddles on the river. This riverfront campground provides flush toilets and warm showers. RSVPs ARE PER PERSON.
You can join us for 1 or 2 nights, arrive on Friday or Saturday morning. Saturday we will most likely shuttle up to Narrowsburg and paddle the easy class I+ water back down to the campground. Sunday we may do a longer paddle downstream from the campground to Lackawaxen or Barryville, navigating class I & II rapids, then shuttle back.
ALL PADDLERS ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR A PROPERLY FITTING PFD (life jacket) AT ALL TIMES WHEN ON THE WATER, ZIPPED AND BUCKLED SECURELY. NO EXCEPTIONS!
This section of the Delaware River contains mostly class I & class II rapids, and possibly some class II+ rapids depending upon the water level (TBD). It is best to have some river paddling experience, but everyone should be able to handle the easier paddle north of the campground.
This is a RAIN OR SHINE EVENT, however, a very poor weather forecast or poor river conditions may cause this trip to be cancelled or postponed.
RSVP $69 PER PERSON on the Meetup.com page for this event.

Each site has been graded with gravel, and accommodates only 2 tents each, so please share if possible. This recently redesigned campground also has newly paved and mostly assigned parking.
