Tracks of the
New York City Subway

2020 edition is
now available
and shipping!
All pre-orders have been sent.
Starting this year, the PDF edition is now interactive! Page jumps on each map page will work, tap/click a yard thumbnail or interlocking and go to that location, etc. Hyperlinked URLs are functional, as are some jumps to YouTube for videos explaining work equipment.
This is still very much a work in progress and I'm ironing the bugs out so please bear with me.

PRINT EDITION ORDERING
FOR INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS (Including Canada)NOTE: Shipping costs have risen drastically in January 2016.
There are 3 methods of delivery for orders outside the United States.
The first option is First Class Mail, which costs $23.50, but it does NOT provide any means of tracking the shipment and there is NO INSURANCE available. If it gets lost or damaged in transit, there are no refunds if it was shipped by this cheaper method, but it's generally pretty fast and very reliable. This rate works for ONE COPY ONLY, and is based upon weight. Two copies via this method would cost more than via Priority mail (below).
The second option is PRIORITY MAIL, which costs $36 for one or two copies, increasing for heavier shipments. It takes 4-7 days, is fully trackable and includes insurance.
The third option is EXPRESS MAIL, which costs $64 for one or two copies and also increases for heavier shipments. It takes 2-3 days, is fully trackable and includes insurance.
INTERACTIVE PDF EDITION ORDERING
Use this option to order a PDF edition of the book for email delivery. This format is intended for screen viewing only and is not printable, but it is interactive. Please order the printed version if you require a hardcopy. There are no shipping or handling charges for this method. Absolutely NO refunds will be issued once delivery is complete. Each order is manually processed so delivery will not occur until the order has been received in our offices. NOTE: The PDF is approximately 15 Mb in size and is normally sent by email. If you cannot receive files that size by email please contact me ASAP. The current PDF edition is $24.95.
The current PDF edition is only $24.95. Back issues from about 1998 onwards are available via PDF download for $19.95 each, or at a very significan discount for multiple years' editions. Please email for details.
NJ residents will have the applicable sales tax added to purchase price.
Orders can be placed online through this site or from any of the following retailers:
HAVE YOU EVER peered out the front window of a New York City subway train and wondered how all that maze of tracks and switches manage to connect to one and other? Or have you ever looked at a public subway map and tried to figure out why one line connects to another, but not to a third line close-by? Perhaps you have wondered what those colour light signals tell the train operator, or what that radio jargon means.
If you answered yes to any of these, then you're interested in Tracks of the New York City Subway!
What is Tracks of the NYC Subway?
Tracks of the New York City Subway, as its name implies, is a 153 page book containing depictions of every main line and yard track (including track numbers) in the entire New York City subway system--all 750+ miles of track and 472 stations of it! A 42-page introduction gives the reader a brief history of the system, a primer on subway signaling (including a colour insert of the most commonly-encountered signs and signals), details on chainage distances, towers, power generation/distribution and a detailed list of abandoned stations.
