Campers' Group Bulletin - Fall 2011

A few days ago I walked along the edge of the lake and was treated to the crunch and rustle of leaves with each step I made. The acoustics of this season are different and all sounds, no matter how hushed, are as crisp as autumn air. - Eric Sloane

Enjoy the sights and sounds of fall with us. Whether we are hiking, bicycling, camping, staying at a cabin, or just getting together for a dinner or other special events, we are sure to have great fun!

September 30-October 2, Bicycling & Hostel Weekend, Martha's Vineyard, Martha's Vineyard MA
Take a day or two off from work and extend your weekend with us to enjoy all that this beautiful island has to offer. Located near the center of the island, we will stay at the comfortable, large and efficiently run Martha's Vineyard Hostel. It has a large kitchen/dining room, den, and men's and women's dorms. A bike path can show you the way, right from the ferry warf... If you want to leave for the island on Friday (not Thursday), park your car in the lot by the Vineyard Fast Ferry departing from Quonset Point, RI, or take the Fast Ferry from New Bedford, MA if you want to leave on either Thursday or Friday. Remember to pack light, bring or rent a bicycle (or rent a moped or smart car), and tour the quaint towns and beautiful shoreline on the many miles of quiet roads and smooth bike paths. The brightly colored Gay Head clay cliffs and lighthouse in Aquinnah is a must-see! You can also take in the flora and fauna by hiking or kayaking. Don't forget to visit the many shops and seafood restaurants. Taxis and a shuttle bus also service the hostel. Please plan now while there is still room left in the dorms. Do not call the hostel at this time to make reservations. To ensure bed availability, you must call a trip leader ASAP.
