Let’s add Dylan Ratigan to the list of people who belong in in the Legion of People You Really Do Not Want To F%$# With (LOPYRDNWTFW), which so far includes Rachael Maddow, Roger Ebert, Stephen Colbert, the folks at 4Chan, Alan Grayson, Jon Stewart, Jon Stewart, Jon Stewart, Jon Stewart, Jon Stewart, Jon Stewart, Jon Stewart, Jon Stewart, and (of course) Jon Stewart.

Here he completely owns US Chamber of Commerce head, and right wing hack, Tom Donohue.

Quote of the Day, Republican Values Edition

Courtesy of Talking Points Memo:

I’m going to go way out on a limb here: Professional wrestling and necrophilia have never come up together in a political campaign before today.

Josh Marshall discussing the storied past of current Republican Senatorial candidate, and former WWE CEO Linda McMahon.

During her tenure as head of WWE, there were sketches featuring, “wrestlers engaged in a simulated rape, a public sex scene, and one depicting a wrestler having sex with a corpse.”

The only possible defense to the accusation that Ms. McMahon is a purveyor of smut and perversion would be that she has no control over the content because pro wrestling is real.

Good luck selling that.

Shoot Me, I Agree with Fred Hiatt

With the exception of the Wall Street Journal editorial, I can think of no OP/ED section in the country that contains more ignorance, flat out lies, and sociopathic ideation than that of the Washington Post.

That being said, even a stopped clock is right twice a day, and the Post is right when they argue against additional aid to bolster housing prices.

Here is the money quote:

The financial crisis was partly the result of years of government-encouraged over-investment in residential real estate. When will the federal government start working on an exit strategy and a new, more rational housing policy — one in which individual homeownership occupies a central, but less heavily subsidized, position?

I would note that they were big into Bush’s “Ownership Society”, which included a lot of government subsidies for home ownership, so it is not unreasonable to think that the reason that they oppose current measures, and supported old measures, is because IOKIYAR* is a way of life for these folks.

Saint Rush Limbaugh has Done a Miracle

Specifically, he has gotten someone who lives within 25 miles of where Memorial Stadium, home field for the Baltimore Colts, once stood, to say something nice about someone with the last name of Irsay.*

You see Jim Irsay, son of the infamous (if you have any affection at all for the Baltimore Colts) Bob Irsay, and owner of the (now) Indianapolis Colts, has come out in the strongest terms against Rush Limbaugh being a part owner of the Rams or any other NFL franchise:

“I myself couldn’t even think of voting for him,” said Irsay speaking from the NFL’s fall ownership meetings in Boston.

Asked if he’d spoken to other owners about Limbaugh’s candidacy, Irsay said, “I haven’t and I don’t think I would even go to the point of talking to Tony Dungy, Jim Caldwell, Dwight Freeney, talking to those men and seeing what their positions are. I’m very sensitive to know there are scars out there. I think as a nation we need to stop it. Our words do damage and it’s something that we don’t need. We need to get to a higher level of humanity and we have.

Good for Jim Irsay for taking the high road….I can’t f%$^ing believe that I just said that.

BTW, it looks like Limbaugh’s toxicity has killed any possibility of his taking any ownership role deal, because NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has said that Limbaugh’s statements are “divisive”:

“I’ve said many times before, we’re all held to a high standard here,” Goodell said. Then he continued: “I would not want to see those comments coming from people who are in a responsible position in the NFL –- absolutely not.”

Put a fork in your involvement with the NFL, Rush, you won’t ever be allowed to be a broadcaster or an owner.

My earlier post on this is here.

*Bob Irsay literally moved the Colts out of town in the middle of the night in a bit of infamy called “The Move”, see here.

Remember, Do Not F$#% With Jon Stewart

As I’ve said before, do not with f$#% with Jon Stewart, and when you go after a comedy program and “fact check”, as CNN did with a Saturday Night Live sketch, you are messing with the bull, and they got the horns when Stewart fact checked CNN:

Stewart made the obvious point, before you fact check a comedy show, how about fact checking people who are on your news programs, or even knowing how to check the numbers?

A note to the so-called journalists on cable news:

Do not f$#% with comedians. They are smarter than you are, they are better informed, they are better looking, and they are probably better in bed.

Unfortunately, I’ll have to leave it right there……………..

What’s the Difference Between a Trend and a Media Fad?

Change in Reserves

Truth be told, I don’t know, but this article from Bloomberg is about the 5th or 6th article that I’ve seen this week, so either a tiptoe toward the exits is beginning, or the press is going all herd mentality on the rest of us:

Central banks flush with record reserves are increasingly snubbing dollars in favor of euros and yen, further pressuring the greenback after its biggest two- quarter rout in almost two decades.

Policy makers boosted foreign currency holdings by $413 billion last quarter, the most since at least 2003, to $7.3 trillion, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. Nations reporting currency breakdowns put 63 percent of the new cash into euros and yen in April, May and June, the latest Barclays Capital data show. That’s the highest percentage in any quarter with more than an $80 billion increase.

I honestly don’t know which one it is, though I kind of hope for a falling dollar, since many of the inefficiencies in our economy are due to an excessively high dollar, which both creates large trade deficits and harms domestic production, and serves to prop up Wall Street and enable it to seize a greater proportion of our economy.

Rush Jumps

This is one big shark that he jumped.
With Frikken Lasers!

Because Rush Limbaugh just literally threw in his lot with Iran and the Taliban:

LIMBAUGH: I think that everybody is laughing. Our president is a worldwide joke. Folks, do you realize something has happened here that we all agree with the Taliban and Iran about and that is he doesn’t deserve the award. Now that’s hilarious, that I’m on the same side of something with the Taliban, and that we all are on the same side as the Taliban.

(emphasis mine) The obvious question is whether or not Limbaugh’s sponsors really want a man who by his own admission, sides with Iran and the Taliban. I think that the award was premature, and likely undeserved, but I can say that without saying that I’m on the Taliban’s side. Why does Rush Limbaugh hate America? *The largest shark, and likely largest predator fish ever. It died out some 1.5 million years ago. The Genus is still in dispute, between either Carcharodon (Great White) or Carcharocles (broad toothed Mako). So in jumping C. Megalodon, you have jumped the biggest shark ever.

And People Pile on Berlusconi

With Members of the European Parliament calling for sanctions against Italy over media consolidation in Italy:

Mr Berlusconi owns three commercial broadcasters, has indirect control over three public channels and owns a series of magazines, newspapers and radio stations as well as the country’s largest publishing house. His advertising firm controls much of the advertising sales in Italy, allowing his reach to extend to media beyond his direct control.

The MEPs say this has created a climate of media intimidation where journalists are fired for stepping out of line while others self-censor to hold onto their jobs. Key posts in the media are based on an individual being sufficiently deferential to the current administration, critics allege.

It would be nice if some action comes from this.

As bad as the MSM is in the United States, the idea of a political candidate controlling all the TV and cable outlets in a country is a scary thing.

The vote, which passed 268 – 284, is merely to start an inquiry, but it’s a good thing.

I think that what is going on with Berlusconi here is very similar to what was done with Pablo Escobar: You peel away at layers of protection, and eventually, pretty much all at once, the house of cards collapses, and you take the crook down.

Lamest Product Launch Ever

The Windows 7® House Parties, and their launch video.

As noted by Slashdot, “If Microsoft had been put in charge of marketing sex, the human race would have ended long ago, because no one would be caught dead doing something that uncool.”

It’s not as bad as that Tommy Seebach video, in that I think that the probability of rectal bleeding being induced is much less than his disco cover of Apache, but great googly moogly, this is lame.

On the other hand, Randall Munroe is amusing, as always”

I am Now Prepared to Offer Investment Advice

Just watch Jim Cramer’s Mad Money, and whatever he says, do the opposite:

Yesterday, market pundit Jim Cramer made a ridiculously awful call on embattled lender CIT (NYSE: CIT). Cramer made a call to buy CIT stock yesterday. Well today it is down 40% on reports a deal with bondholders will wipe out the current common shareholders.

Here is what Cramer said on CIT yesterday.

“Because no one forced CIT into bankruptcy, it can live to play again, and when I read in the New York Post that Paulson owns CIT debt, I realized that he’s powerful enough to save this company, particularly because he is one of the investors in IndyMac and knows his way around the bottom of the debt barrel.

These two stocks represent lottery tickets that are no longer rip-ups because they have made it out of the “critical care” stage and are recovering.

I would buy them both.”

Google Jim Cramer and Bear Stearns, or just look at these old videos from The Daily Show (also here).

I May Not Be Fasting on Yom Kippur

Because that pig felching junkie and drunk Glenn Beck has decided to announce that he wants to use September 28th this is a day of fasting and prayers for conservatives, and that is also the daytime portion of Yom Kippur, the Jewish day of atonement.

My guess is that this a cunning plan for him to claim that “millions were fasting,” because we do that every year.

I have no health issues that would prevent me from fasting.

In fact, giving my gut a 25 hour rest is actually pretty good for me, settles everything down, but I think that there must be something in Halacha* that prohibits even the appearance of listening to that bigoted repugnant moran.
