This is out of the 100-120 readers a day that I average.
I went to the Health First clinic, and got a prescription for Tamiflu®.
I’m already feeling better, but I’m not going to be stupid about this. I’ll skim the news and get some sleep.
First, in the interest of full disclosure, while I still read there, I have been banned from posting there, with good cause, as I was sock puppeting.
I still read it, truth be told, I think that the diaries are more interesting than the front pagers, but you have perhaps a dozen front pagers, and something like 1000 times as many diarists daily.
I started coming across various comments, some snark, and some serious, and finally tracked this all down to one user who has announced his withdrawal from Kos for the duration of the nominating process.
His complaints were justified. The place has been nuts on this lately. Hell, so has Americablog, MyDD (on the other side), Oliver Willis, Taylor Marsh, etc…..
Let’s make this clear, to quote myself, “If I had a choice I would vote for a syphilitic goat,” ahead of any Republican.
The shrillness level, and not just on Kos, regarding the Democratic Party nominations is in-bloody-sane.
Take a chill pill.

I just glanced at my ads on the left hand column of my blog, and I noticed a little text ad from Humanevents.com talking about “Barack Obama Exposed”.
Let me reiterate: I do not vet my ads. Their appearance on my blog does not indicate any sort of endorsement by me.
The folks at Human Events are seriously delusional right wingers and their publication is six pounds of fertilizer in a five pound bag.
While I am not Obama’s greatest fan, I do not subscribe to the insane right wing smears from folks like this.
So, you can ignore the ad, or you could click on it, which would generate around a nickel of revenue for me and cost them some money, or you could leave and never come back.
I think that the first option is probably the most mature.
As to where the proceeds go, and at the rate I’m going I’ll get my first check around 2011, they will go to things like beer (or Slivovitz) for me, or taking my wife out to dinner.
Just in case you are wondering, I don’t generally discuss how the markets did on a single day.
There is simply too much noise for one day to mean much.
Additionally, the Dow Jones (Soon to be Murdoch?) Industrial Average sucks as a tool anyway. It’s a completely arbitrary bunch of stocks.
Besides, on days with big swings, like today, you hear it on the radio, or whatever.
For the time being, at least, I’ve added the delegate count widgets for both parties to the bottom of the left column from MyDD.
Note that I have just added the Washington Independent to my blogroll…It’s a good source for news and commentary.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency’s own research, coal ash dumping can lead to higher rates of cancer, developmental problems in children and adverse effects in women of child-bearing age. Despite the fact that coal ash contains mercury, lead, arsenic, chromium, cadmium, selenium, beryllium, and other toxic metals, the EPA has yet to categorize coal ash as hazardous waste. In addition, coal ash has been found to be up to 100 times more radioactive than nuclear waste, due to the concentrations of uranium and thorium that increase 10-fold after coal is burned.
It makes me what you would call “metaphysically ill” to listen to him.

I had no idea that the flash games that I posted as windows had that unbelievably tacky music playing.

Here’s a question: I make about 10-15 posts a day, how far back should I go on the front page of the blog?
Right now, I’m at 4 days, or about 60 posts.
I could set it at a number of posts, or a number of days, but at what point does it get unwieldy for you guys.
Please, when giving your comments, give your bandwidth at least. (Browser, OS, and Machine speed, memory, etc, would be useful too)

I find that if I wait until year’s end I miss stuff from earlier in the year, so I use this blog to keep track of material that is potentially of interest for the newsletter. If it’s the goings on of my family, it gets the tag family. If it’s of interest, but unrelated to family happenings, I use some weird news stories, it gets the tag 40yrs.
40 Years is put out the old fashioned way, it’s printed out on one sheet of ledger sized (11″x17″) paper folded into 4 pages and mailed to people, total circulation of about 100.
I’m just not the holiday card kind of guy. A warning, if you comment here, I may use it in my paper publication.

Yep, this time I’m going after a liberal blogger, Matt Stoller.
Three, the Clinton’s have, how to put it, real character issues. I haven’t written this before, because I don’t believe in going after family members unless they make themselves an issue, but Chelsea Clinton, despite the opportunity to do anything she wants, chose to be a hedge fund manager. What does that say about the Clinton family commitment to public service? I write this because Clinton is using her daughter in an ad that says ‘My Mom taught me to stand up for myself, and to stand up for those who can’t do it on their own’, and then express pride at passing those values on to her daughter. What kind of value system is that? And what does it say that Clinton is bringing her daughter into the contest bragging about her daughter’s greed? This is one small example (Mark Penn is another), but it’s pretty clear that the Clinton’s have become in some ways Bourbon-esque aristocrats.
Bullsh@$….She’s campaigning for her mom, but her choice of work is not a valid critique.
Heck, if I had seen done to my parents what she saw done to hers, I’d run away from public servide like the plague.
