Lame Even By Republican Standards
One of Freddie Thompson’s former campaign staff is calling for a, “boycott of all shows and products affiliated with martial arts thespian Chuck Norris because of his endorsement of former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.”
The lamitude* of this snollygoster†, “Darrel Ng, a former traveling press secretary for Thompson” just boggles the mind.
*I know that lamitude is not not a real word.
†But “snollygoster” is a real word.
Obama Projjected Winner in SC
Looks like he did fairly well too, around 52% to around 33% for Clinton, and around 15% for Edwards from the CNN page right now.
Better Now Than in The General Obama-Rezko Edition
More Obama-Rezko stuff; this time it’s the fact that the Obama campaign has not returned all the Rezko related donations.
Truth be told, I don’t find this particularly meaningful from a policy or corruption position, but I do see it as significant from from a political perspective.
As I’ve said before, one of my concerns about Obama (ignoring the whole gay baiting McClurkin thing) is that he has never been in a serious campaign against a Republican.
He has always run in a dead girl/live boy* safe Democratic district, except for his Senate campaign, which was against Alan Keys, who is so obviously seriously mentally ill that it counts as the same thing.
What he is getting now is less than one one thousandth of what the Republicans would throw at him in the general election, and the his response, and that of his campaign, has generally been pretty good.
Besides, getting this cleared up in the primary, is better than waiting for the general.
*Edwin Edwards, when discovering that he would be facing David Duke in the Louisiana governor’s race, said that the the only way that he would lose were if he were, “caught in bed with a dead girl or a live boy”.

I think that this is an effective ad.
Edwards Runs Ads Claiming to be from the “Adult Wing of the Democratic Party”
When all is said and done, this may hurt Clinton, but this will kill Obama.
Clinton is running on the ticket that, “She may be a scary bitch, but she’s our scary bitch”, while Obama is running against his own message.
In any case, I have not seen the ad, so if someone finds it on Youtube, put it in the comments.
NYT Endorses Clinton and McCain
I’ve just finished reading the New York Times endorsement of Hillary Clinton.
They basically buy into the “experience” meme, and I think that they also don’t see any “there” there for Obama.
Their reasons for not endorsing Edwards, are pretty mainstream, basically the alibis rich and comfortable people use because so they don’t care about his issues.
I would disagree with them on “changing the tone of the campaign”.
Honestly, since Obama has taken a more combative turn, I have been more impressed with him as a candidate, if just because it shows some facility for dealing with the Republican Slime Machine.
If you want a good read though, I would suggest that you read the Times endorsement of McCain.
It’s not that they say such lofty things about McCain, but rather the degree to which they go after the Rudolph Giuliani clown show:
Why, as a New York-based paper, are we not backing Rudolph Giuliani? Why not choose the man we endorsed for re-election in 1997 after a first term in which he showed that a dirty, dangerous, supposedly ungovernable city could become clean, safe and orderly? What about the man who stood fast on Sept. 11, when others, including President Bush, went AWOL?
That man is not running for president.
The real Mr. Giuliani, whom many New Yorkers came to know and mistrust, is a narrow, obsessively secretive, vindictive man who saw no need to limit police power. Racial polarization was as much a legacy of his tenure as the rebirth of Times Square.
Mr. Giuliani’s arrogance and bad judgment are breathtaking. When he claims fiscal prudence, we remember how he ran through surpluses without a thought to the inevitable downturn and bequeathed huge deficits to his successor. He fired Police Commissioner William Bratton, the architect of the drop in crime, because he couldn’t share the limelight. He later gave the job to Bernard Kerik, who has now been indicted on fraud and corruption charges.

Kucinich Drops Out
I don’t think that it was lack of money that led Kucinich to drop out of the Presidential race, he continued “running” all the way to the convention in 2004, and he’s never had any money.
I think it’s the fact that he has some credible primary challengers, and that his constituents don’t like being grist for the late night talk shows.

Roger Stone, who has the distinction of being the youngest of Nixon’s “dirty tricksters”, has founded a 527 organization, Citizens United Not Timid, to oppose Hillary Clinton.
I guess he has to do something when he is not swapping spouses.

Fresno Bee Endorses Edwards and McCain
While I appreciate their Edwards endorsmennt, I still cannot figure out why the press has their tongue so far up the rectum of John McCain.
Interestingly enough, they are endorsing McCain because of his populist message, when the mainstream press is ridiculing him because of it.

Strange Political Season: Actual Journalism Observed
I though that journalism was extinct in the wild, existing only within specific preserves, like The Daily Show and Countdown, With Keith Olbermann, but it appears that a specimen has escaped to the wilds of ABC.
In a report on his nationwide cable TV buys, which BTW are a very good idea in terms of bang for the buck, the Obama stated that, “The DNC has consistently said that we have not broken that pledge.”
Well it appears that ABC News’ Teddy Davis actually checked the facts about that claim:
Obama’s claim is not true.
“The DNC has not weighed in on the pledge because it was a pledge with the state party chairs from the four early states, not the DNC,” DNC spokeswoman Stacie Paxton told ABC News.
I’m stunned and amazed.
I’m also waiting for the same scrutiny to be applied to Senator Keating 5 McCain.
It will probably be a while.
Freddie Has Left The Building
Yes, the Freddie Thompson clown show has ended with
his withdrawal from the Presidential race.
I heard a discussion on Olbermann wondering who he might endorse. After all, that compulsive throat clearing demographic is crucial.
I’m sad…I’m without a pathetic Republican candidate to ridicule…except for Giuliani…I’m feeling much better now.
The Cash Crunch is Hitting the Primaries, But Only for Republicans
While Obama and Clinton are considering Super Bowl ads, Republican candidates are running short on cash.
Romney appears to be considering spending some more of his own money on the race, while in the Huckabee campaign, some aides are not being paid, and others have left, and insiders in the McCain campaign are admitting that things are tight.
Gee, if you screw up the economy badly enough, I guess that Republican donor Rodney Richpigge* won’t crack open his check book, because high taxes on some profits is better than no taxes on losses.
*Internet high 5 if you pick up the reference.
Culinary Union Gets Ahead of Its Members
It turns out that the Culinary Union got ahead of its members in Nevada, which is why Clinton won 7 of the 9 at-large caucus sites on the Strip.
They endorsed too late, and did not involve their membership sufficiently, and as a result, their members tended not to follow the endorsement.
Interesting read for any organizers.
I Completely Spaced Out the Debates
So I’m trying to catch up via Youtube.
If this is any indications, it got nasty between the front runners.
John Edwards won this debate, just by not being involved in the nastiness.
That being said, I think that Obama lost worse than Hillary, because she has some leeway to be angry, and he by virtue of racism in American society, does not.
OK, Maybe I’ll Console My Self With the Rudolph Clown Show
The Siena New York Poll has him behind John McCain by 12 points in New York State.
The Freddie Thompson Clown Show may be on its way out, but Rudy is doing a good job to pick up the pathetic humor in the presidential campaign.
After all, Rudy showed up to a NASCAR race, and begged to be allowed to drive the pace car, after making a circuit in his bus, but wasn’t allowed.
He’s a good substitute source of my minimum RDA of Schadenfreude.
Another Day, Another Obama Embrace of a Right Wing Meme
Well, now Obama is declaring himself to be a “committed Christian”.
I understand that he is trying to answer a disgraceful internet rumor about his being a crypto-Muslim. I’m not exactly sure what the best response is, but this is is the worst response.
He is essentially responding to a demand of an oath of Christianity to qualify for public office. You shouldn’t capitulate to that, you should fight that.
You need to show the people who make this request are un-American, and they need to be removed from mainstream political discussion through ridicule and justified outrage.
Pandering is not the solution.
McCain Presidential Bid Over, Because Chuck Norris Says It Is
Chuck Norris is saying that John McCain is too old to be president.
I thank you, as do all good Democrats, because you raised the issue, so we don’t have to.
Seriously though, that is a potential issue, for good or ill.
Then again, maybe his veep would get us out of Iraq.
