Ron Paul is a Spammer

Well, it appears that botnet of compromised machines are sending out email pimping for Ron Paul.

It should be noted that the article does note that the researcher who discovered this has no evidence of any connections between the Paul campaign and the botnet spammers.

Given the genuinely altruistic bent of spammers, it is possible that these people are just acting out of the goodness of their hearts, just like Dick Cheney does.

Quote of the Day: Barack Obama

Barack Obama on Jay Leno:

Hillary is not the first politician in Washington to declare ‘Mission Accomplished’ a little too soon.

Pithy, quotable, and profoundly damning.

The answer was in response to statements about the inevitability of Hillary, and that was a delightfully sharp shiv. I’d like to see some more from Obama, because I still have doubts about his willingness to do it, as Sean Connery said in The Untouchables, “The Chicago Way”.

Bush Without the Thinking

Guiliani has been taking shots at Edwards ever since John criticized Rudy’s foreign policy ideas (which are truly insane).

Now Edwards’ spokesman Eric Schultz puts in his $0.02:

Poor Rudy, first he loses all touch with reality by bragging he spent more time at Ground Zero than our brave firefighters and first responders, and now he wants to brag about his foreign policy vision which can be best described as “George Bush without the thinking.

Microsoft rigs Live Search traffic

Remember those stories about Microsoft gaining on Google in the search business?

Turns out it was all a scam.

Microsoft has successfully rigged its search traffic. The company recently introduced several online games than shamelessly bribe people to query its moribund Live Search Engine, and according to web research firm comScore, these games gave the engine a significant traffic boost last month.

….

When users play games like Chicktionary, Dingbats, and Seekadoo, they automatically generate Live Search results. The more results they generate, the more points they win. And if they win enough points, they win prizes. Like a Microsoft Zune player. OK, it’s not much of a bribe. But it’s still a bribe.

Love that bit of snark at the end.

Quote of the Day: John Kerry

The WaPo has a story on the Nixon admin wanting to co-opt Kerry and get him to run as a Republican.
Because of his background (He’s went to Yale), they thought that he might be able to bring him into the fold.

One of Kerry’s comments is prize:

I experimented with a number of things in college. Being a Republican wasn’t one of them. Besides, going to Yale doesn’t make you a Republican. Going to Bob Jones University makes you a Republican.

Lol!!!!!!

Snark of the Day

Courtesy of Glenn Greenwald, who noted a comment on his blog:

As Gen. Apathy noted in comments, having read the entire Murray [Washington Post National Political Reporter Shailagh Murray] chat from yesterday: ‘Every answer she gave was smarmy, sarcastic, pedantic and lacking any serious insight.’ Indeed, the whole thing reads like a tongue-clucking rant from a 12-year-old Maureen Dowd, which is saying quite a bit since Maureen Dowd, in her full-blown adult self, is more than sufficiently adolescent.

FWIW, Glenn Greenwald, Esq. is generally pretty serious, though a good read.

His expertise is constitutional law.

Quote of the Day: George Soros

An appropriate Nazi metaphor from a holocaust survivor.
Here:

The United States is now recognizing the errors it had made in Iraq, he said, adding, “To what extent it recognizes the mistake will determine its future.” Mr. Soros said Turkey and Japan were still hurt by a reluctance to admit to dark parts of their history, and contrasted that reluctance to Germany’s rejection of its Nazi-era past.

“America needs to follow the policies it has introduced in Germany,” he said. “We have to go through a certain de-Nazification process.” (Emphasis Mine)
