MyNuMO Scores with Celeb Video Game

I know the guy who runs MyNuMo, he’s one of those classic, “Friends that I’ve never met except through the net.” and some of the content there is in-dirtyword-credibly good.

The Jewish Mother ringtones are prize.

How they describe themselves:

MyNuMo is an online community that lets its members create, share, and sell mobile content. We make it possible for anyone to publish and sell content into the $9B Mobile Market. The MyNuMo portal delivers independently created content that’s rated and promoted by real people and delivered to any mobile phone. MyNuMo is selling user-generated content to mobile users with direct billing and delivery agreements on ALL major US Carriers.

In any case, they put a flash game up on the web. It’s amusing, and it doubled their traffic.

Applause: MyNuMO

Every once in awhile we find a reason to stand up and applaud a marketing/advertising campaign. For all of you Trads out there, this case study falls into the emerging markets category, so hold on to your PCs real tight while we head into the digital divide.

MyNuMo is a service that allows users to generate and post content, from short videos to ringtones for mobile phones. Unlike the soon to be released service from Nokia called Mosh (it’s in beta) when users download content from MyNuMo, the poster of that equity is paid a small sum. In order to promote and differentiate MyNuMo’s fledgling services, the creators of the site created a quick and entertaining flash game in which players try to….

I can’t go any further, because it would involve mentioning she who must not be named.

Technical Pranks

Stuff like this is why The Register is on my link list.

It’s kind of like Mad Magazine for tech nerds.

Fancy some hot buttered storage?
Bringing new meaning to pop-ups

Competition It is a Monday, and we’re all looking at another five days of miserable toil before the glory of the weekend beckons once more. We can’t do much about that, but how’s this for a way to ease the pain of a new week?

Reg reader Alan Howlett sent us word of a very silly tech prank, and we’ve decided to turn it into a competition. As you read on, keep in mind that there will be a test at the end.

Over to Alan:

I bought a Synology DS-207 Network-Attached-Storage (NAS) device and it arrived yesterday. I have set it up as the primary file server for my office and am totally in love with it. It’s fantastic- it does nearly everything our Windows 2000 Server PC did…

Yes, yes. you like your new shiny bit of kit. Enough eulogising, and on with the story, please…

Is it a toaster? Is it a NAS? Too many questions…

It does, however, look like a toaster and I have been informally calling it “the toaster” in the office.

Anyway, I had also bought an actual toaster that arrived on the same day. The real toaster has some slots on the top, and the synology has lights, but apart from that they are very similar.

…..

Here’s the test: can you do any better? In a Jackass-meets-BOFH style contest, we want to see photographic evidence of silly stuff like this.
…..

You can kind of see where this is going.

Oral-B objects to toothbrush vibrator

You get the picture. If you don’t, here it is.

It’s been a while since I’ve said this, but I really enjoy the Register.

This is why I don’t name things, I would have called it “Clitoral-B”.

LoveHoney in toothbrush vibrator trademark rumpus

Oral-B sex shocker

NSFW Online sex toy outfit LoveHoney has got itself into hot water over the promotion of its Brush Bunny Electric Toothbrush Rabbit Vibrator after deciding the best way to punt the product was to picture it beside the pleasure delivery platform of choice – an Oral-B electric toothbrush.

According to LoveHoney’s sober report into the matter, it quickly received a missive from D Young & Co – “who proudly declare themselves to be representatives of ‘The Proctor & Gamble Company family including Gilette Canada Company and Braun GmbH in relationship to trademark matters'” – and who declared:

It has come to our attention that the trademarks BRAUN and ORAL-B have been adopted and misused on the above mentioned website. Specifically, the use of the client’s trademark can be seen at the following:

Bootnote

We’d like to point out that The Register in no way supports the use of toothbrush-mounted sex aids and warns that improper deployment of such devices may result in personal injury if not supervised by a trained professional. We also advise LoveHoney that The Register and its vulture logo are protected by trademark, so you can forget that El Reg-branded latex gimp suit. Our lawyers are watching.

Look for This on Ebay

Remember my post about Bush getting his watch stolen?

Here is a description.

From Mystery of President Bush’s watch in Albania

Italian media reports said that Mr Bush only noticed his watch was missing when he got back to his armour-plated people-mover to be whisked back to Tirana airport. By the time he stood on the aircraft steps to wave goodbye someone on his staff had given him a replacement watch. He is said to wear a $50 Timex with the Stars and Stripes on the dial.

Heck…I’m tempted to put a similar model of watch up for bidding on Ebay.
