Yes, you can buy this.

It happens every year, and in addition to the regular denizen of the harbor, the USS Constellation,.we saw the US Coast Guard barque that is the last tall ship in active service, as well as a replica of a 16th century Spanish galleon from Seville.
No clue as to how the pix will format on thus post.

I’d love to see naked pictures of Jennifer Lawrence and Kate Upton, but only if they voluntarily do some sort of performance in the nude.
Otherwise, it is squicky. I want to see naked women who want to be naked.
Of course, there is an adult naked picture of me that might still be in existence.
It was the mid-1980s, and my then girl friend wanted a naked picture. (The non digital kind)
I do not know if she still has it, but for the love of God, if you do, do not punish the world with it.

I’m over-sharing, aren’t I.
As an aside, I would add one sort of technical thing: I would not trust the crowd in general, and Apple’s cloud in particular, but if you are going to use the cloud to back up your stuff, not only should the stuff be password protected, but it should also be encrypted as well, both to protect yourself from hackers, competitors, and from the NSA.

Much to the delight of sky-watchers in Nevada, it appears that there is some major construction at Groom Lake (aka Area 51):
In the latest satellite imagery released to the public, dated June 30th (partial) and June 2nd (full), Area 51 continues to undergo changes, and one of them is significant in nature. This new construction project is of especially high interest, not just because of its physical size, but also because of its very peculiar location and timing.
………
In 2007, the biggest addition in some time was added to the base’s southwest corner, hidden partially behind a giant dirt berm. This fairly massive and modern hangar was fitted-out with extensive office space and a pair of 175 foot doors, one on each side of the structure. The facility was clearly purpose-built for something, and that something, or some things, were not small in size. The width of the doors alone added to the mounting evidence that what was contained within was an asset, or assets, that were strategic in nature.
………
At the time that this new structure was completed, it was thought to house a proof of concept demonstrator for the Next Generation Bomber (NGB) program and/or a deep penetrating and very stealthy High Altitude Long Endurance (HALE) reconnaissance drone, basically an aircraft with similar capabilities as the RQ-4 Global Hawk but much more survivable and even more autonomous.
………
With this background in mind, we now return to the new developments at Area 51. A new engine test cell located towards the northern part of the base appears to have been finalized since the last images were available, and there are some other small improvements that are noticeable around the sprawling installation, but the massive hangar being constructed far south of the aforementioned hangar built in 2007 is quite literally, a big deal.
The location of this new structure, measuring about 225 feet across, is interesting as it is located right off the end of the runway, far south of the rest of the base. This location would keep it out of the immediate view of the general apron area, and would also allow for quick access to the runway, resulting in minimal taxi times.
The fact that this new hangar will have doors on each side, evidenced by the taxiway emanating out from both sides of the structure, means that pre-flight checks, and possibly engine starts, could be executed while under the structure’s protective cover. This is beneficial when trying to avoid satellite flyovers.
Although the times when flyovers occur are all known, and operations are planned around them accordingly, such planning is no guarantee that the aircraft will not experience problems while taxing, taking off or landing, thus leaving it exposed to prying eyes in low earth orbit. So having a hangar as close to where the aircraft launches and recovers is beneficial if that aircraft is of an especially sensitive nature.
I think that we can be reasonably certain that it’s directly connected to a specific project, I don’t think that the USAF builds massive hangars just to F%$# with aviation buffs.
My guess is that this is associated with the next generation bomber, the successor to the B-2, but that is just a wild-assed guess.
One of the oldest open air arts festivals in the nation.
We had a lot of fun looking at various arts and crafts, most notably a glass artist who works I borosilicate (Pyrex™) which rather surprised me, as most glass artists I know work with much lower temperature glass.
There was also music and a wide range of carnival-type foods.!
Finally, there are a fair number of booths of for profit companies, including a Geico booth with a very cross gecko.,
You make a couple of jokes about eating insects, and they take it personally.
Go figure.

This is epically stupid:

In response to the advance of ISIS, the Iraqi military has taken an emergency deliveries of Su-25 ground attack fighters:
A video uploaded by the Iraqi Ministry of Defence and a subsequent announcement shed light on Iraq’s first success in acquiring a combat capable platform to stop the advance of the Islamic State. The latter has made great progress in capturing large areas of Iraq and is now slowly advancing to Iraq’s capital Baghdad.
”The Ministry of Defence announced the arrival of the first out of five Russian combat aircraft Su-25 into Iraqi territory under a contract with the Russian ministry, which will contribute to increasing the combat capability of the Air Force and the other branches of the armed forces to eliminate terrorism.”
The Iraqi Army and Air Force have proved anything but capable to halt the Islamic State’s advance and have been desperately looking for other ways to fill the caps currently posed in Iraqi’s Armed Forces. With the United States reluctant to provide close air support or speeding up the delivery of Iraq’s F-16s, Iraq has been increasingly looking to countries in Eastern Europe to strengthen the Iraqi Air Force (IQAF). It is now clear a batch of five ex-Russian Su-25s are the first to have arrived.
The first Su-25, still in Russian Air Force (RuAF) camouflage and with a hastily applied Iraqi flag, arrived onboard a Russian An-124-100 cargo plane together with ground support equipment on the 28th of June. The Su-25s are believed to have been stored at the Aircraft Repair Plant 121 (ARZ 121) in Kubinka before being flown to Iraq. The contract also included new engines for the aircraft, which were installed just before the delivery flight.
The Iraqis have been waiting for the delivery of F-16s, but they got these surplus Su-25s in a matter of a few weeks.
It also of note that the Iraq AF operated this under Saddam, and the Iranians operate them today, so there is operational experience that can be tapped.
Additionally, under the current tactical situation, it’s a better weapon system than the F-16, because what is needed is a dedicated close air support (CAS) and strike aircraft with low operational costs.
What’s more the aircraft’s agility at low speed and low altitude allows it to maximize the effect of unguided munitions, which comprise the bulk of Iraqi munitions.
Additionally, it constitutes a major change in Iraqi policy. It shows that they are moving away from Western weapon systems, and the US defense contractors. (Yet another goal of Bush/Cheney that has turned into a fail)
So, the failure of the Neocon’s Iraq adventure continues to damage the interests of the United States.
As I mentioned earlier, I competed at the Trial by Fire cooking competition.
The cooking went well, but the time limits, juxtaposed with some chronic lateness issues, did me in on the competition part.
There was also a separate competition specific to bacon, called the Bacon Challenge.
I stumbled upon a kosher lamb bacon, Lambbaaacon, which is pretty remarkable.
It is very much an an artisinal bacon, which means that it has some layers of flavor that one would not expect from stuff from the store.
Also note, no nitrites, and thus no carcinogenic nitrosamines, but it also means that it does not have the characteristic reddish hue of normal bacon.
It is an amazing piece of work, because the Silberberg brothers have absolutely nailed the mouth feel of bacon, and added to the normal flavor (strong hints of lamb, of apple, and their amazing spice cure).
In any case, I decided to go with a somewhat older, and more Irish version of New England Boiled dinner, bacon and cabbage. (pictured)
It came out very nicely, and gave a marvelous flavor to the cabbage (and potatoes, and carrots, and rutabegas, and onions).
Win.
Recipe (and funny cartoon) after the break
Place the meat in a large pot along with enough hot water to cover it by at least 1″, and add spices.
Bring to a boil, then simmer bacon until fork tender , then remove from pot, and wrap in aluminum foil, and place on pot to keep warm.
Remove floating bits of spice if so desired.
Add carrot and rutabaga and simmer for 20 minutes, then add cabbage, onions, and potatoes for an additional 15-20 minutes, until the potatoes are fork tender.
Remove vegetables with a slatted spoon, and place on a platter, and with the bacon.
In its celebration of all things Ballmur, it strikes me that two of the prominent cultural features of the Charm City, big hair and those funky retro eye glasses, might lead one to believe that it is the spiritual home of Gary Larson’s comic, The Far Side.
Certainly, Mr. Larson and John Waters seem to have a sense of the off beat that comes from similar places.
