Glen Beck Wins Because Barack Obama Has No Balls

Van Jones, formerly Obama’s “Special Adviser on Green Jobs, was fired resigned, because he founded a group, Color of Change, that has succeeded in getting a significant portion of Glen Beck’s sponsors to pull their ads, and because there is a Youtube of him calling Republicans “assholes”.

Mr. Jones is no longer a member of CoC, but Beck wanted his scalp, and he got it, because Barack Obama has no balls.

LBJ would have had J. Edgar Hoover strip search Beck’s sorry ass.

What’s worst is that this will only encourage the next faux right wing sh$# storm.

On Being Clueless

Mike “Mish” Shedlock writes about a lot of things, and he tends to come from the position of the “Treasury View”, which states, among other things, that deficit spending cannot hasten recovery, since it takes money from other things.

It should be noted that this theory has been widely, from Keynes and Galbraith to Friedman, has been discredited since the 1930s.

In his latest, he goes after Paul Krugman for writing in 2004 that the Bush tax cuts should be rolled back to help with the deficit, and for writing in 2009 that the stimulus package, and the resultant deficit, are not matters of immediate concern.

Of course, in 2004, we were dealing with a frothy economy, most notably in the housing market, though it was still 2 years off peak, while in 2009, we are suffering from the worst recession, and worst banking crisis since the depression, with the central bank unable to lower rates because they have run up against the zero bound.*

Of course, Mich has the answer:

Q. What’s different?

A: Politics: a democrat ultra-liberal is in the White House.

(If Barack Obama is ultra liberal, I’m Jayne Mansfield)

It’s complete crap like this that keeps him off my blogroll and my feed list (it went there via a link).

I do actually check out some sites that I disagree with vociferously some times, Mat Rodina comes to mind, but in those cases I get insight into a point of view, in that case Russian nationalism, that I would not otherwise understand.

There are people who are cogent writers who help me understand opposing views. Mike “Mish” Shedlock is not one of them.

*Zero bound: When rates cannot be lowered, because they are effectively 0%.

High Broderism

Outsourced to Brad Delong, who notes that not only is David Broder a deeply immoral man, he suggests in that prosecution of crimes by his cocktail party friends is simply unAmerican, but that he is also lying through his teeth.

You see Broder says (not linking, friends don’t link friends to Broder) in the first substantive paragraph of his OP/ED (the first 2 ‘graphs are calling out Eugene Robinson for supporting the investigation):

First, let me stipulate that I agree on the importance of accountability for illegal acts and for serious breaches of trust by government officials — even at the highest levels. I had no problem with the impeachment proceedings against Richard Nixon, and I called for Bill Clinton to resign when he lied to his Cabinet colleagues and to the country during the Monica Lewinsky scandal.

Actually, this is a flat out lie. While he did call for Clinton to resign over a blowjob, he strongly argued against impeaching Nixon at the time, when he wrote, “that he hoped it would fail–and that Richard M. Nixon would have his revenge.”

In the world of sociopaths like David Broder, Bill Clinton gets a blow job, so he must therefore resign.

Richard Nixon, on the other hand, uses the IRS, and the FBI, to pursue his political opponents, authorizes crimes against them, including attempted blackmail and robbery, and then is actively involved in covering up those crimes, and it’s “no harm, no foul.”

I think that David Broder is angry with Democrats, because somehow or other, he missed all the “free love” in the 1960s, and he blames the Democrats, for reasons that are unclear to me.

Godwin’s Law Does not Apply*

The reason that Godwin’s law does not apply here is because we are talking about Patrick Buchanan, and, on the 60th anniversary of the start of WWII, he’s writing about how the war really wasn’t Hitler’s fault at all, but the fault of those meddling English.

OK, we know that he is a pro-Nazi kook, and we know that his Dad was involved in the German American Bund, so we can only imagine what little Patty’s dinner table discussions were like, but why does this man have a soap box at MSNBC and other networks?

The issue is not that he is an anti-Semitic and racist kook, it is that mainstream media outlets still feel compelled to give him access?

To quote the late, great Molly Ivins, “The speech was so much better in the original German.”

[on edit] I did not link directly to Pat Buchanan’s article, though I read it, because I did not want to drive page views.

*Which states that, “As a Usenet discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches 1,” with a corollary that, “the thread is finished and whoever mentioned the Nazis has automatically “lost” whatever debate was in progress.”
It should be noted that this law has not been considered to apply exclusively to Usenet discussions for at least a decade, and is applied generally to all forms of electronic text based communications.

Te Stoopid, It Burns US!!!!!

Maria Bartiromo asks 454 year old Congressman Anthony Weiner if why he is not on Medicare (1:37 in vid).

Umm…You have to be 65 to qualify.

Jeebus, is she anything but a life support system for a pair of tits.*

*Yes, legs too, she has nice gams. The point is that she is a profoundly stupid woman who has her job because she is eye candy.

Stupidest Motherf$#%er on the Washington Post Payroll

Which may make Richard Cohen the stupidest motherf$#%er on the face of the earth, beating out Douglas Feith.

You see, he wants to wring his hands, and say that there should be no prosecutions for torture, because it might work, once.

This ignores the fact that it does not work most of the time, in fact it makes things much worse, because not only does it make potential allies into opponents, but it does not extract reliable information.

Notwithstanding Mr. Cohen’s self-professed, “abhorrence of torture,” this is really about the fact that inside the Washington, DC Beltway, the idea for accountability for crimes is an anathema to the “very serious people.”

He coaches this moral capitulation as his desire for the impossible, “absolute security,” which does not exist sitting in one’s home, or driving on a street, but this is thrown in because it sounds reasonable, and justifies the most heinous of acts.

The reality is that they are completely bereft of morality, and so attached to Sally Quinn’s damn cocktail parties and their access to the politically powerful in the nation, that they endorse criminality and moral indecency on a scale that boggles the mind.

That being said, cheer-leading crimes against humanity and endorsing the idea that there should never be any accountability does not make Richard Cohen a stupid man, it just makes him a war criminal, guilty of crimes against humanity like Julius Streicher or Hassan Ngeze, what makes him the stupidest man in the world is this:

Attorney General Eric Holder has named a special prosecutor to see whether any of the CIA’s interrogators broke the law. Special prosecutors are often themselves like interrogators — they don’t know when to stop. They go on and on because, well, they can go on and on. One of them managed to put Judith Miller of The New York Times in jail — a wee bit of torture right there. No CIA interrogator can feel safe. The interrogators are about to be interrogated.

(emphasis mine)

While Judith “EC” Miller’s incarceration on contempt of court charges is undoubtedly coercive, and openly so, the intent of the contempt citation and jailing was to extract information about her sources, it was by no means torture.

Anyone conflating incarceration with torture is really, really, mind bogglingly stupid.

Te stoopid….It burns us!!1

Our Dumb Nation

So, a band came up with T-shirt, “Brass Evolutions, 2009,” but some creationist whack job parents objected so the assistant superintendent confiscated the shirts, because some parents, “don’t think evolution should be associated with our school.”

Since when did stupid people get the right to make the rest of us stupid?

What the administration should have done was contact the alma mater of said parents, and suggest that their diplomas be revoked.

What a Whiny Bitch

Joe Klein acts like a turd at a party to I.F. Stone’s grand daughter, where among other things, he claims that Wikipedia is “leftist”, and has clueless his ass handed to him, and then he basically describes her as a member of Glenn Greenwald’s “cult”, and then he gets his nose out of shape about this:

Now, Greenwald himself has published private emails of mine that were part of a conversation taking place on a list-serve. In one of those emails, I say that Greenwald “cares not a whit for America’s national security.”

You know, the intersection of private emails and listserve (no hyphen, dude) is a null set. If you post to a listserv, and expect it to be private, you are a complete tool.

He further goes on, republishing another of his emails from the listserv, that while, “not a religious reader of Greenwald,” he has never heard him talk about who well, for example, well things went in Anbar province.

Ignoring the obvious, that if you are, “not a religious reader of Greenwald,” then you don’t know whether he wrote this or not, there is also the fact that Glenn Greenwald writes about civil liberties, not military tactics, but he continues to insist that because he, Joe Klein, has not read something on the subject, that Greenwald is somehow evil and anti-American.

It should be noted that the real cause of this is when Glenn Greenwald showed that Klein was holding authoritatively on the FISA legislation in Congress, and being completely wrong, because he had been, “he’d been lied to, by a Democratic Staffer,” ignoring the fact, that if he had read the legislation, or even if he had just had an intern read the legislation, he would have been known that what he was spouting was a crock of sh$#.

So much like Dick Cheney, Mr. Klein is a whiny bitch.

[update]Greenwald’s response, though it is rather more generally directed at the Washington DC Kule Kidz, than at Klein.

Dick Cheney Is Pathetic

While Madeline Albright did not actually call Dick Cheney “pathetic”, she said that his statements about the Department of Justice’s investigations of torture “are kind of pathetic.

When we look at Richard Milhaus Bruce Cheney, he is pathetic, he:

  • He went to Yale, and flunked out by reason of alcohol
  • Got busted twice for DWI
  • Convinced Gerald Ford to drop Nelson Rockefeller as VP and replace him with Bob Dole in 1976
  • Ran Ford’s losing campaign to Jimmy Carter,
  • Spent 10 years in the Congress, some of it as House whip, and only sponsored a handful of bills (IIRC, about 2).
  • As Secretary of Defense, he instituted the massive expansion of private contractors doing jobs that had previously been done by the DoD.
  • As head of Halliburton, bought Dresser Industries, and the billions of dollars in asbestos liabilities that came with that.
  • Picked himself as Vice President.
  • And then there is his time as Vice President.

This man has been a pathetic failure his entire life. It needs to be understood that whenever he has made a decision, he has been deeply wrong.

He is a sad pathetic old man, and he needs to be treated as such.

Why Does Anyone Hire Juan Williams?

Juan Williams and Tree:
Stupid is in the foreground

When you look at his history, his aggressive opining on Clarence Thomas’ sexual harrassment of Anita Hill when he was harassing an underling him self, lasting about 3 months as host of Talk of the Nation because he was too stupid to do a marginally competent interview, and his reflexive embrace of the right wing talking points of the day, most recently with the idea that passing anything without Republican support is the “nuclear option”, one has to wonder why this man has a job, aside, of course, from Fox News, where he fulfills the critical role as their token “Tom”.

His history of incompetence, dishonesty, lack of knowledge about what he comments on, and ethical lapses, he should he should not be working anywhere near news.

Maybe he can get a job at the AEI or the Hudson institute. It’s where right wing tools go to die.

Can We Please Give Texas Back to Mexico?

Or maybe Canada, or Belize, or Iran or Myanmar (Burma); I don’t care, who gets Texas.

The latest bit of wankery of the Texas State Board of Education on the curriculum, where they are looking to replace Thurgood Marshall with Sean Hannity, Newt Gingrich, Focus on the Family, Phyllis Schlafly, the Moron Moral Majority, Rush Limbaugh, Mike Huckabee, and the National Rifle Association makes it pretty clear that the intersection of Texan and American values is pretty much a null set.

I really cannot add anything to Atrios’ analysis, “I guess what bugs me most of all isn’t that they’re trying ram through a conservative-only version of history, it’s that they’re all obviously really f%$#ing stupid.”

Birthers Want Obama to Drop Trou* On National TV

Shrek: Do you think he’s maybe compensating for something?

Yep, Jesus’ General, who reads Free Republic so I don’t have to, has noted that the latest meme: If Barack Obama is not circumcised, it would mean that he was not born in the US in 1961, because everyone got circumcised then.

There are some problems here.

It is indeed true that circumcision rates were high, well over 90%, in the US in the early 1960s, it was neither absolutely universal nor mandatory. Additionally, circumcision amongst Muslims is considered Sunnah, or a highly recommended tradition, and as a Muslim Obama would have been circumcised.

So if he were a closet Muslim, he would be circumcised anyway.

In any case let me be the first to say, great googly moogly, someone has issues.

The fascination that the denizens of FR with Democratic presidential penises, which says something about them, probably more about penis size insecurity than anything else.

*Meaning pull down his pants, and show us his penis.

Michelle Bachmann is Pro Abortion Rights?????

She was on Hannity’s show, and she was talking about Obama’s healthcare reform plan, and she said the following at about 5:35 in her interview:

“That’s why people need to continue to go to the town halls, continue to melt the phone lines of their liberal members of Congress,” said Bachmann, “and let them know, under no certain circumstances will I give the government control over my body and my health care decisions.”

You go girl!

Another Milestone In the Annals of Stupid and Corrupt

Just when I think that Bush and His Evil Minions have left me so jaded that they can no longer shock me with their corruption and incompetence, I discover that not only did the CIA have assassination teams, but they outsourced these teams to Blackwater, USA (now Xe):

The Central Intelligence Agency in 2004 hired outside contractors from the private security contractor Blackwater USA as part of a secret program to locate and assassinate top operatives of Al Qaeda, according to current and former government officials.

Executives from Blackwater, which has generated controversy because of its aggressive tactics in Iraq, helped the spy agency with planning, training and surveillance. The C.I.A. spent several million dollars on the program, which did not successfully capture or kill any terrorist suspects.

This is not surprising. Blackwater’s mercenary division, Blackwater Security Consulting (BSC), was founded in 2002 with the obvious goal of cashing in on the paranoia bonanza post 911, and used that, along with the reputation earned by Eric Prince’s father as a reliable supporter of extreme right wing causes, to generate revenues.

Notwithstanding the caveat in the article:

It is unclear whether the C.I.A. had planned to use the contractors to actually capture or kill Qaeda operatives, or just to help with training and surveillance in the program. American spy agencies have in recent years outsourced some highly controversial work, including the interrogation of prisoners. But government officials said that bringing outsiders into a program with lethal authority raised deep concerns about accountability in covert operations.

I think that it’s more likely than not that there was a real intent by the CIA to hire outside contractors as hit-men.

If CIA paramilitary forces needed training, they could get that from any number of military organizations.

After all, as has been discovered in Iraq, Mercenaries are:

  • Not subject to US law.
  • Indemnified from the local law.
  • Not required to use the same reporting standards as government agents on either finance or notification.

So, the most incompetent and brutal of the mercenaries were chosen, probably on the basis of political payback for contributions and a shared Christo-Fascist world view, and the intent was to just turn them loose to kill people without the slightest indication of meaningful supervision.

Great googly moogly.

We need a special prosecutor now.

Talking to God Does Not Make You Crazy

But when you hear him answering back, in complete sentences, and he is saying, “Michelle Bachmann, you should run for President….Well, yes, that is batsh%$ insane.

To be fair, Michelle Bachmann is not claiming that God told her to run for President, though she did say that God told her to run for Congress, she’s just saying that she expects God to ask her to run for president.

“The phrase ‘paranoid schizophrenic with delusions of grandeur’ is not in the aardvark’s vocabulary, so, in his mind, he substitutes ‘crazy as a panrovian monk’ . . . ” (Cerebus #5 p 13)

I feel embarrassment sharing a country with her….How do her constituents not go through life with bags over their heads to conceal their identities.
